President Donald Trump announced plans on Twitter to reverse sanctions against North Korea that were imposed by the Treasury Department.
"It was announced today by the U.S. Treasury that additional large scale Sanctions would be added to those already existing Sanctions on North Korea. I have today ordered the withdrawal of those additional Sanctions," Trump wrote.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said, "President Trump likes Chairman Kim and he doesn’t think these sanctions will be necessary." "The Treasury Department on Thursday announced it was imposing new penalties on two Chinese shipping companies accused of helping North Korea evade existing sanctions," The Hill reported. National security adviser John Bolton reacted to the news on Twitter. "Important actions today from US Treasury Department; the maritime industry must do more to stop North Korea’s illicit shipping practices," Bolton wrote.
"Everyone should take notice and review their own activities to ensure they are not involved in North Korea’s sanctions evasion," he added.
