An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) official who supposed to attend closed-door negotiations on border security was not allowed to attend. The Washington Times reported, "ICE was disappointed not to be able to address the conference committee directly."
The ICE official was going to the meeting to inform the panel that the Democrat plan for immigration would allow 30,000 current detainees to be released back on the streets. The official also planned to defend President Donald Trump's call for 52,000 more detention beds. The Democrats want to cut ICE's detention facilities down to 35,520 beds. "We’re having to negotiate with people who want to abolish ICE, not support ICE," Sen Lindsey Graham said.
