Ocasio-Cortez Goes After Trump, Claims He's Putting Omar's 'Life In Danger'

​     Rep. Ilhan Omar, who has married her brother, faced a massive backlash against her for claiming "some people did" 9/11. 

     "Here’s the truth: Far too long we have lived with the discomfort of being a second-class citizen. And frankly, I’m tired of it, and every single Muslim in this country should be tired of it," Omar said.

​     "CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties," Omar added.

     President Donald Trump retweeted the video of Omar's remarks on 9/11 on Friday afternoon. "WE WILL NEVER FORGET," Trump wrote.
 
     Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went after Trump in a tweet. Ocasio-Cortez claimed Trump is putting Omar's "life in danger." Ocasio-Cortez then compared Trump to Hitler for violently "targeting" Omar.

​     "Members of Congress have a duty to respond to the President’s explicit attack today.@IlhanMN’s life is in danger. For our colleagues to be silent is to be complicit in the outright, dangerous targeting of a member of Congress. We must speak out," she wrote.

     "First they came," Ocasio-Cortez added.

     "The quote, 'First they came…' comes from a quote of prominent Lutheran pastor Martin Niemöller, who described how people’s inaction toward Adolf Hitler led to the Holocaust. The famous quote is featured at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, which Ocasio-Cortez included a picture of in her tweet," The Daily Wire wrote.
