The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is allowing President Donald Trump's administration to return illegal immigrants to Mexico while they wait for court hearings.
The court gave until Tuesday for groups to submit arguments for why the Trump administration should not be allowed to return asylum seekers to Mexico. The court set a deadline on Wednesday for the Trump administration to argue why the policy should be allowed. Trump celebrated the ruling on Twitter, writing, "Finally, great news at the Border!" "The administration in December announced its new policy, called the migration protection protocols, arguing that it would help stop people from using the asylum process to enter the country and remain here illegally," The Times reported. The Trump administration is considering releasing detained migrants into sanctuary cities. The White House is also considering sending some of the migrants to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's district in San Francisco, California.
