Report: Pentagon Finds $12.8 BILLION For Border Wall, Over $4 BILLION More Than Trump Requested3/19/2019
The Defense Department found $12.8 billion that could be used for the funding of President Donald Trump's border wall, according to a twenty-page spreadsheet released by Sen. Jack Reed.
This comes after President Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border to use $8 billion to fund a border wall. A bill passed the House and Senate giving Trump another $3.6 billion for the border wall. The Pentagon said the potential funding sources are "more than the amount needed." The two biggest amounts of money found were in California and Hawaii. The Defense Department found $700 million in California's unused Army and Navy military construction budget. Hawaii had $400 million not being used that could be used for Trump's wall. The Defense Department has not revealed if they will use $12.8 for the border wall or just use $8 billion. It's likely the Pentagon will only give $8 billion towards the funding of the border wall because that's what was requested in Trump's emergency declaration.
