Governor of Texas Greg Abbott deployed 1,000 National Guard Troops to the U.S. southern border on Friday. This comes after over 45,000 illegal immigrants were caught crossing the border.
"I just deployed 1,000 National Guard Troops to the border," Abbott said. "This is needed because more than 45,000 people were apprehended crossing our border illegally in the last 3 weeks," Abbott wrote in a Tweet.
"They come from 52 different countries. Congress must do its job and fund border security," Abbott continued.
Abbott also released a video on Twitter explaining the deployment. "I just deployed 1,000 National Guard Troops to the border," he says. "This is needed because more than 45,000 people were apprehended crossing our border illegally in the last 3 weeks. They come from 52 different countries," Abbot added. "Congress must do its job and fund border security," he continued.
