President Donald Trump responded to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's demands of an investigation into the DOJ for a "political interference in the sentencing of Roger Stone."
While speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Trump slammed Pelosi's demands, saying, "I have the absolute right to do it. I stay out of things to a degree that people wouldn’t believe, but I didn’t speak to them,” Trump said.
"By tweet @realDonaldTrump engaged in political interference in the sentencing of Roger Stone. It is outrageous that DOJ has deeply damaged the rule of law by withdrawing its recommendation," Pelosi tweeted.
"Stepping down of prosecutors should be commended & actions of DOJ should be investigated," Pelosi added. The Justice Department submitted a new sentencing recommendation for Stone on Tuesday after the four now-resigned prosecutors, Aaron Zelinsky, Jonathan Kravis, Adam Jed and Michael Marando, recommended Trump's longtime friend, Stone, serve 7-9 years in prison for witness tampering, lying to Congress, and obstruction of justice. On Tuesday morning, Trump slammed the "miscarriage of justice" sentence recommendation that he "cannot allow." "This is a horrible and very unfair situation.
