 Forty-fifth President Donald Trump issued a statement on Friday congratulating 18-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse on being found not guilty on all charges by a jury in Kenosha, Wisconsin. "Congratulations to Kyle Rittenhouse for being found INNOCENT of all charges. It’s called being found NOT GUILTY – And by the way, if that’s not self defense, nothing is!" Trump wrote in a statement through his Save America PAC. Rittenhouse faced two charges of murder, one charge of attempted murder, and two charges of reckless endangerment over his attendance at a Black Lives Matter riot on August 25, 2020. President Joe Biden reacted to the acquittal in a statement, writing, "While the verdict in Kenosha will leave many Americans feeling angry and concerned, myself included, we must acknowledge that the jury has spoken." "I urge everyone to express their views peacefully, consistent with the rule of law. Violence and destruction of property have no place in our democracy," Biden added. "Corporate media and Democratic politicians such as then-candidate Joe Biden called Rittenhouse a 'white supremacist' and described the violence as if he had set out to kill peaceful Black Lives Matter protesters.
