President Donald Trump told reporters on Thursday that Attorney General William Barr was "absolutely" right about spying into his campaign.
"I think what he said was absolutely true. There was absolutely spying into my campaign. I’ll go a step further. In my opinion, there was illegal spying, unprecedented spying," Trump said.
"Something that should never be allowed to happen in our country again," Trump added.
"Yes, I think spying did occur. But the question is whether it was predicated — adequately predicated, and I’m not suggesting that it wasn’t adequately predicated, but I need to explore that. I think it’s my obligation," Barr said.
"Congress is usually concerned about intelligence agencies and law enforcement agencies staying in their proper lane, and I want to make sure that happened. We have a lot of rules about that,” Barr added.
"I haven’t set up a team yet but I have in mind having some colleagues pull all this information together and let me know whether there are some areas that should be looked at," Barr continued.

President Trump said in March 2017 the Obama administration had the wires tapped in Trump Tower in a tweet.
"Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my 'wires tapped' in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism," Trump wrote.
