The White House revealed in a letter Monday that they have planned a second meeting between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Kim requested another summit in a letter to President Trump. White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Kim's request was the "primary purpose" for the second meeting and is "certainly something we want to take place."
Sanders added the White House is "already in the process of coordinating that." Sanders did not mention the place or time of the second meeting, adding discussions are taking place. In the first successful summit, Kim promised to denuclearize North Korea in exchange for sanctions relief from the United States, and has kept his promise. Sanders said Kim's request of a second meeting means Trump has "achieved tremendous success of his policy so far and the letter was further evidence of progress in that relationship." National security adviser John Bolton said during a speech, "The possibility of another meeting between the two presidents obviously exists. But President Trump can't make the North Koreans walk through the door he's holding open."
